Bugatti Festival Molsheim 2017, Saturday tour

by Jaap Horst

The Saturday started in Dorlisheim, Bugattis gathering near the cemetery.
The flowers were brought to the grave not by a classic Bugatti, but by the Chiron, driven by Mr. Piochon, director of the new Bugatti factory.
You will spot a "Type 55" in some of the photographs, this is built by an enthusiast, on a relatively modern chassis, certainly not Bugatti.

Memorial at the cemetary, an event usually held on the Sunday morning. Speaking at the grave are the president of the EBA Gérard Burck, founder of the EBA Paul Kestler, and his daughter Monique Kestler, who did the translation in Dutch!

After the memorial, there was a very nice drive, through the Alsatian hills, to the lunch venue. Unluckily, during this drive, and at lunch, it rained quite heavily.

Look at the differences; the left emblem is oval in shape, but FLAT. Very different from all others that I saw, which are slightly elevated in the centre.

Daniel Schuler (photo on the right) invited me to ride with him in his recently acquired Type 49 Jankowski, a car shortened already in the 1950's.

This is what happens when you lose a front wheel; the brake back plate is worn for a few cm, and the cover for the carburettor (and the carburettor itself) are damaged...

Interesting car also present: a small Simca 8 Sport!

Continue with the Saturday evening at l'Anneau du Rhin race track
